Pets and Parc Senior Residents

At Parc Communities we embrace opportunities that bring our residents enjoyment, promote activity, and better overall health.  Research has shown numerous advantages for seniors who own pets.  At Parc Communities, many of our residents have pets such as dogs, cats, and fish that live with them in their apartments.

Senior pet owners reap many health benefits including both mental and physical aspects. Pets provide companionship and also promote social interaction between residents.  The pets at Parc are very sociable and enjoy greeting fellow residents. It’s not uncommon to see residents sitting outside in the courtyard spending time with their dog and friends. Pets are also great for people who live alone as they provide comfort; it is often also said that pets have calming influences.  According to a study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, seniors that have pets tend to have better physical health and mental wellbeing than seniors who do not have a pet.

To help ensure that pet ownership and the other features available to Parc residents are copasetic with optimal senior health, we ask that all Parc residents’ pets are vaccinated, groomed and well-behaved.  We also encourage healthy aging through our fitness and wellness programs, nutritious meals and mental stimulation. If you would like to schedule a tour for yourself or a family member please contact us today. Be sure to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest senior news.
